It is with great sadness that UCLA Film & Television Archive announces the passing of our valued colleague, film preservationist Nancy Mysel, on June 17, 2012.  Nancy passed away peacefully in her home in Los Angeles, after a brave, 8-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. She was 45.

Writing for the Chicago Tribune, arts critic Howard Reich gives a report on a recent "Race, Gender & the Blues" symposium at Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois.

Our screening series earlier this year, "Kino-Eye: The Revolutionary Cinema of Dziga Vertov," featured 14 rare Kino-Week newsreels from the Austrian Film Museum.

In 2010, the UCLA Film & Television Archive screened the West Coast premiere of Haile Gerima's Teza (2008), a film that won over 20 international awards, including the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival.
