From Saigon to Dien Bien Phu, 1970
Filmed in Vietnam before the fall of Saigon in 1975, the 10 films in the My Van Collection are among few surviving films in the United States from this period. Including noted films such as From Saigon to Dien Bien Phu (1970) and Child of Fire (1975), the My Van Collection (named after the production company that was active in Vietnam from 1952 to 1975) was entrusted to the UCLA Film & Television Archive in 2018.
The UCLA Film & Television Archive seeks to preserve and restore these unique films before they are lost to the ravages of time. Film preservation and restoration require skilled expertise and resources. As a single feature film may cost over $100,000, the My Van Preservation Project will be a long-term project that aims to steward the collection and restore a selection of titles from the My Van studio filmography.
