2015

June 18  -  John Catania and Charles Ignacio present “LGBTQ Life Through a Lavender Lens” at Hoboken Public Library (Hoboken, New Jersey).  Learn more

June 30  -  UCLA Film & Television Archive announces launch of the In the Life digital portal.


October - November  -
  In the Life show producers and activists John Catania and Charles Ignacio host LGBT-focused screenings and workshops in Hong Kong and Taiwan, including:

  • “The Gay American Experience: Why Our Marriage Matters” (American Institute in Taiwan, Kaohsiung Medican University, Fu Jen Catholic University, Taiwan International Queer Film Festival, Hong Kong University)

This program highlights recent steps taken towards marriage equality in the U.S., the importance of full and equal civil marriage rights, and how In the Life examines more than 20 years of recorded LGBT history.

  • “Sexual Outlaws, Rebels & Renegades: Hidden Heroes of the Gay American Experience” (6th ILGA-Asia Regional Conference, Taipei; Fringe Club, Hong Kong)

Drawing on the archived In the Life video profiles, this program identifies historical figures who were openly gay, lesbian or transgender despite discrimination, as well as current examples of courageous and outspoken LGBT public figures.

November 19  -  Presentation of In the Life humor clip reel at the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Archival Screening Night at Northwest Film Center.

 

2014

September 2  -  In the Life: Celebrating a Historic Television Legacy screening at the Billy Wilder Theater with producers John Scagliotti and Jacqueline Gares in person.

October 10  -  Presentation of “Out of the Closets and Onto the Web: Digital Access and LGBT Archives” at the Association of Moving Image Archivists (AMIA) Annual Conference in Savannah, Georgia.  Chair and Speakers:  Alice Royer (Outfest), Mark Quigley (UCLA Film & Television Archive), Todd Wiener (UCLA Film & Television Archive), Daniello Cacace (ACT UP Oral History Project), Karen Sundheim (James C.
