The Fly (1986)

25th anniversary

Directed by David Cronenberg

An experiment gone awry blends scientist Seth Brundle’s genes with those of a housefly, causing a monstrous transformation. David Cronenberg’s remake of the 1958 film ups the gross-out factor as Brundle decomposes into what the New York Times called “a creature so repulsive he makes the monster in Aliens look like Grandma in a Norman Rockwell painting.” A tragic and compelling reminder that science and drunken fits of jealousy never mix.
