Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan

U.S., 1982

After the disappointing critical reception of the cerebral Star Trek: The Movie, Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan retooled the beloved franchise for the big screen blockbuster era — and introduced some innovations of its own. Ricardo Montalbán as Captain Kirk’s titular interstellar nemesis may be the most memorable — and memeable — villain in the entire series. Exiled to an inhospitable planet by Kirk for his crimes, Khan escapes and seeks a powerful new technology — the Genesis Device — to use as a weapon in his revenge. As he tests the bonds and abilities of Kirk and his crew like never before, Khan and his plan also challenged the filmmakers to go where no production had gone before to include the first all-CGI sequence in a feature film.
