The Neverending Story  (1984)

Chased by bullies into a bookstore, Bastian stumbles across The Neverending Story, a magical book that opens up a world of the imagination called Fantasia. But this world of gnomes, dragons and other fantastical creatures is in trouble, threatened with extinction by a malevolent force called the Nothing. Only a young hero named Atreyu—and maybe Bastian himself—can save it.
