UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television presents

The Heat is On: A Jerry Bruckheimer Film Festival

Top Gun
April 1, 2016 -
April 27, 2016

UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television presents this festival saluting prolific film producer Jerry Bruckheimer, recalling highlights of his long career, and his contributions to the American film industry.  The festival will run from April 1 to 27, 2016 in the Billy Wilder Theater.  Over a period of decades, Bruckheimer has amassed an impressive record of hit motion pictures, contributing powerfully to the scale and tone of American filmed entertainment.  In a filmography ranging from war pictures to buddy comedies to freewheeling flights of fantasy, Bruckheimer displays an uncanny instinct for uniting story material of size and sweep with key talents who bring stories to life with style and originality, enlivening themes of striving and achieving that lie at the heart of American identity.  This impressive record continues with Bruckheimer’s pursuit of new forms of storytelling and filmic adventure.  UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television is pleased to honor Jerry Bruckheimer with this commemorative film festival, which opens on Friday, April 1 with a special 30th Anniversary screening of Top Gun (1986), and an onstage appearance by Mr. Bruckheimer.  Other films to be screened include American Gigolo (1980), Armageddon (1998), Beverly Hills Cop (1984), Black Hawk Down (2001), Crimson Tide (1995), Enemy of the State (1989), Flashdance (1983), Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) and The Rock (1996).

Note:  All screenings take place in the Billy Wilder Theater, located at 10899 Wilshire Boulevard.  Select screenings will be presented with the participation of related talent.  Please check www.tft.ucla.edu for schedule, updates and tickets.
