Sweet Charity (1969)

Directed by Bob Fosse

In his screen directorial debut, Bob Fosse is amply supported by Edith Head’s inventive costumes, which bespeak a swinging, far-out New York explored by disenchanted dance-hall hostess Charity (the dazzling Shirley MacLaine) in her search for a better life and genuine love.  As Charity shuttles between social sets, Edith Head also dazzles with some of the most outlandish and imaginative costuming of her career.
