Documentarian Sergey Dvortsevoy won newfound international acclaim, and the Cannes Film Festival’s Prix Un Certain Regard, with this charming story of a young man returning from service in the Russian Navy to the steppes of Kazakhstan to realize his dream of becoming a shepherd.  Seeking a wife (a necessity, in order to be allowed to herd local lands), he woos the only local girl, the diffident “Tulpan,” whose answer will be the answer to his dreams.
