Title:

"Vietnam veterans speak out against the Vietnam War"

Date:
April 28, 1971

Synopsis

Seven Vietnam Veterans, who may be affiliated with the organization Vietnam Veterans Against the War, hold a press conference to speak out against the war in Vietnam and to detail their efforts to both protest the war and push for its end. The spokesman for the group emphasizes they are trying to make the point that veterans who served in the war are disgusted by it and want it to end before more people die. He details the Dewey Canyon III protest in Washington, D.C. and lists other means they have taken to find support for their cause such as meeting with congressmen and asking the Supreme Court to rule on the war. They hope to persuade the American people to demand an end to the war. Footage also includes silent shots of the group preparing their notes and talking. Some of the press conference footage is silent.

Note:  The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.
