Title:

"Chicano students at Cal State Los Angeles voice concerns"

Date:
June 7, 1971

Synopsis

Reporting from Cal State Los Angeles, Cecilia Pedroza interviews David, a representative of MeCHA, about concerns and problems Chicano students hope to address with the Dean of Students and college president John E. Greenlee. Topics covered during the interview include financial aid issues, the firing of a staff member for the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), and ways to give the community an active voice in the program. If their demands are not met, they plan to ask for the resignation of President Greenlee and the Dean of Students. Footage also includes a band playing outdoors on campus with students listening to the music and socializing, and an interview with a student about the Chicano Studies program.

Note:  The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for broadcast, may be without sound.
