Title:

"Chicano student grievances against Pepperdine"

Date:
April 5, 1971

Synopsis

Two Chicano students give a press conference where they detail grievances against Pepperdine College (later known as Pepperdine University). The students discuss the continued lack of a Chicano studies program, and a lack of Chicano administrators and full-time teachers, despite the fact that these same concerns were raised the previous year. They also discuss a proposed boycott by Black and Chicano students. Clip also includes a response from Dr. Jack Scott, the Provost and Dean of Pepperdine's Los Angeles campus.

Note: The KTLA newsfilm collection at UCLA consists of cut and unedited stories, outtakes and fill footage, originally shot on 16mm reversal film stock with magnetic soundtrack. Some footage, particularly material not used for boadcast, may be without sound.
