The Archive is renowned for its pioneering efforts to rescue, preserve and showcase moving image media. It is dedicated to ensuring that film history is explored and enjoyed for generations to come.

Every year, movie lovers in Los Angeles spend Labor Day weekend at the Cinecon Classic Film Festival, an event comprised of rare silent and early sound films, celebrity guests and a movie collectible show.

This year, festivalgoers will be treated to four films restored by UCLA Film & Television Archive:

  • Way Out West (1937)
Laurel & Hardy's only joint venture into the Old West is often considered their finest feature.
  • The Goose Woman (1925)
Director Clarence Brown depicts a former prima donna who descends into alcoholism.
  • Ladies' Night in a Turkish Bath (1928)
A comedy about two men who escape to a bath house when their dance hall is raided.
  • She Wanted a Millionaire (1932)
A Pre-Code drama in which beauty contest-winner Joan Bennett forsakes newspaperman Spencer Tracy for millionaire James Kirkwood.
