Directly Licensable Footage
Email your research requests to our Media Licensing Office at footage@cinema.ucla.edu. Please be as specific as possible when you provide research topics. Names, dates, places, and specific events work best, since our licensable collections consist mainly of newsreels and newsfilm (mostly pre-1980). You may order a DVD or VHS screener of the material.
Research is provided free of charge.

Items From Our General Collection
Our general collection may be searched using the Archive Catalog.
If you request screeners or master footage from materials in our general collection (where UCLA is not the rights holder), written copyright clearance (or proof that the title is in the public domain) must be provided. We do not research copyright holder information; that responsibility falls to the client.
