Is one of America's most fiercely independent filmmakers, who
throughout his career has been a champion for the rights of the
artist. A central concern of his has been that of the director's
original vision, that it be preserved and respected. He sees the
preservation and restoration of film as critical; it is essential
to save the films as they are a direct reflection of our culture.
They are fundamental to the future generations of filmmakers and
audiences. Mr. Altman is also a member of the advisory board for
the Independent Film Channel.
