Directed by Howard Hawks

Director Howard Hawks' El Dorado wasn’t actor Robert Mitchum’s last Western, but it’s certainly his best late career work in the genre until his amazing cameo in Jim Jarmusch’s Dead Man 30 years later. This near reprise of Hawks' Rio Bravo finds Mitchum playing an alcoholic sheriff alongside John Wayne’s veteran hired killer and James Caan’s young gun as the trio of misfits who come to the aid of family and town menaced by an evil rancher.
