The UCLA Film & Television Archive and Women & Philanthropy present
REMEMBERING DINI OSTROV: A SPECIAL SCREENING OF HIS GIRL FRIDAY

Please join the Archive and Women & Philanthropy as we pay tribute to our friend Dini Ostrov, who died in 2007.

Dini and Les Ostrov were two of the Archive's earliest and most loyal donors. Their generosity made possible the preservation of His Girl Friday (1940), Ball of Fire (1941), Holiday (1938) and other Hollywood classics. The Ostrov's support extended to numerous Archive retrospectives, including those for Howard Hawks, Barbara Stanwyck and Billy Wilder's career as a screenwriter.

The Archive's Director, Dr. Jan-Christopher Horak, commented: "Dini Ostrov was the prime example of an engaged philanthopist, who made a creative and imaginative connection to the causes she chose to support." And Bea Mandel, president of Women & Philanthropy from 2006-08, said: "Dini was an uncommon lady devoted to her family and to UCLA. She will be deeply missed by all."

Please note: This screening will be held at the James Bridges Theater on the UCLA campus.

HIS GIRL FRIDAY
(1940) Directed by Howard Hawks

This hilarious comedy stars Cary Grant as a crafty newspaper editor hell-bent on keeping his ace reporter and ex-wife, Hildy (Russell), from settling down with a pitifully dull businessman (Bellamy) by convincing her to cover the imminent execution of a convicted murderer. Hawks' ingenious use of overlapping dialogue accelerates the film's already break-neck clip and epitomizes the verve of Hollywood's Screwball Era.

Preservation funds provided by: Dini and Les Ostrov.
