The Fourth Technical Symposium, Preserving our Audiovisual Heritage is scheduled to take place on January 27-29, 1995 in the National Film Theatre in London, UK.
The JTS starts with a pre-conference reception on Thursday 26 January, 1995 at the Museum of the Moving Image. The first day will consider the Ethics of Archiving and the breakdown of the components of signal carriers with age. The Saturday is devoted to methods and projects concerning restoration and conservation of signals and carriers and the third day will consider the use of computer techniques in AV archiving, something of interest to an even wider audience than audiovisual archivists.
An international array of practising audiovisual archivists is being assembled to present papers in these fields of interest. While the papers will contain technical detail they are designed by tradition to appeal to a wide range of technical and less-technical archivists. More detailed technical information is usually reserved for the Proceedings which are published soon after the event. The aim of the Organisers is to inform not blind with science.
Registration fees are £200.00 for members of FIAF, FIAT, IASA, ICA and IFLA and £250.00 for non members before October 1st 1994. A copy of the published Proceedings is included in the cost. Special rates are available for accompanying persons and one day registration.
